Albania and Montenegro: Lake Skadar-Shkoder Integrated Ecosystem Management Project

WASHINGTON, May 27, 2008- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

AlbaniaGEF Trust Fund Grant: US$1.99 million

MontenegroGEF Trust Fund Grant: US$2.56 million

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project aims to help establish and strengthen institutional mechanisms for trans boundary cooperation through joint efforts to: (a) improve understanding of the lake ecosystem and potential impacts of development; (b) promote an increase in authorized sustainable uses of lake resources; and (c) demonstrate pollution reduction.
