Environment is an important topic for the members of Albania YVG. Raising awareness on the environmental issues in the country was done in a very interesting way. In collaboration with the Municipality of Tirana, the YVG organized two activities in the Ibrahim Brahja and Dhora Leka schools. These schools are in Tirana’s suburban areas and lacked the green areas. So, the YVG members donated linden and mimosa trees for both schools.
This was also a chance to show the projects World Bank in Albania is implementing on environment. Country Manager Camille Nuamah, a strong supporter of the YVG, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Tirana Municipality Albana Dhimitri, took part on the planting of linden and mimosa trees at the school yards. Every tree was “adopted” by a class of the school and they promised they would take care for them and for the environment. On the other hand, the YVG members promised to check the trees after some months.
Planting a linden tree, Camille Nuamah said “Trees are like children. They need a lot of efforts and love to grow, but they pay you back when they grow”. On the other hand the YVG members thanked the World Bank and the municipality for the support and with the help of students of the school planted the trees. They said this was a small present for the school but will serve for a big promise: to take care of the trees and the environment.
