Partnerships

 

The World Bank’s main partners are the governments and people of its member countries. At the same time, the Bank is only one of a number of organizations all over the world that help transition and developing countries, either with loans or grants. Most richer nations have government agencies that assist developing countries with loans and grants.

 

The United Nations and its agencies—such as UNICEF, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Development Programme, and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)—all assist developing countries. And many private nonprofit organizations—as well as many religious foundations—fund development projects around the world. The World Bank cooperates with many of these institutions, and some of its projects are financed jointly with them.

 

The World Bank in Albania works to strengthen internal and external partnerships, which have already grown stronger as a result of the National Strategy for Socio-Economic Development (NSSED). Building on the NSSED participatory process, the Bank undertook CAS consultations with government, civil society, the private sector, parliament, and donors. More than ever, the Bank is preparing to implement lending and nonlending operations in close collaboration with stakeholders.
