Azerbaijan: Rehabilitation And Completion Of Irrigation And Drainage Infrastructure Project

WASHINGTON, February 28, 2006- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

 

IDA CREDIT: US$5 million

TERMS: Grace Period = 10 years; Maturity = 35 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main objective of this project is to finance a cost overrun due to higher costs for the rehabilitation and completion of the irrigation and drainage infrastructure works under the original project.  The original project development objectives and expected outcomes will remain unchanged: (i) to prevent the decline in supplying water to Baku City; and (ii) to eliminate further deterioration of the supply of irrigation water to approximately 86,000 hectares (ha) along the SAC.
