Prominent Dutch Professor delivers lecture on oil money

On March 14, 2008 at 11:30 World Bank Azerbaijan Public Information Center hosted a lecture by a prominent professor of the University of Amsterdam, Mr. Sweder van Wijnbergen for students of the Azerbaijan State Economic University.

The lecture entitled "Oil money: Blessing or curse?" focused on challenges and opportunities resulting from management and utilization of Azerbaijan's vast energy resources and covered a broad spectrum of issues including oil revenue management, maintaining macro stability and  Dutch Disease. 

Professor Winjnbergen was visiting Baku on March 3-14, 2008 as part of the World Bank mission to analyze macro-economic situation in the country in the framework of preparation of the Country Economic Memorandum (CEM) aimed at taking stock of recent economic developments in Azerbaijan and offering short-term and medium term recommendations for the development of a sustainable non-oil economy.
