Azerbaijan: Second National Water Supply and Sanitation Project

WASHINGTON, May 27, 2008- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

IBBRD Loan: US$230 million

TERMS: Maturity = 17 Years; Grace Period = 4 Years

IDA Credit: US$18.8 million

TERMS: Maturity = 35 Years; Grace Period = 10 Years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project aims to improve the availability, quality, reliability and sustainability of water supply and sanitation (WSS) services in selected regional (rayon) centers in Azerbaijan. This will be achieved through rehabilitation and reconstruction of WSS infrastructure in the 21 rayons outside the Greater Baku Area, including five in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
