World Bank invites Belarusian, Moldovan and Ukrainian youth organizations and other civil society organizations to participate in the Youth Development Marketplace (DM) Choose Your Future Today.
The main issues facing young people in the three targeted countries are broadly similar. They encompass low quality of education; youth labor market difficulties, emigration and brain drain, and health problems such as alcohol and drug abuse, increasing HIV/AIDS rates, and teenage pregnancies
The main objective of the Ukraine-Belarus-Moldova Youth Development Marketplace 2008 is to identify and support innovative, small-scale projects in the three countries for achieving better opportunities and outcomes for the young people (aged 15-30) in two identified strategic youth development areas shared by the three countries,

improving work opportunities, and

developing healthy lifestyles.

In order to apply
1. Study the DM guidelines
2. Submit a proposal using the application form by January 18, 2008
Proposals are now solicited from entities that work on youth-related development issues.
Approximately 40 finalists from the three countries will be invited to attend the Development Marketplace event in Kiev, Ukraine to present their proposal to an international jury comprised of development experts, and to the general public
This is the second DM event for the three countries - the first one was held in Minsk in 2003. The Competition received over 620 proposals from Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. The World Bank and its partners (Swiss Cooperation Office, UNICEF, UNDP) contributed about US$350,000 for awarding 22 best proposals. The awards ranged from $8,000 to $40,000
