According to World Bank’s experience with developing countries, well designed arrangements for private participation or PPPs allow commercial discipline to be introduced in the delivery of infrastructure services, improving efficiency and lowering costs. As governments around the world consider more efficient use of PPP techniques to help mobilize additional private capital and management into infrastructure development, they must acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully implement infrastructure projects using PPPs. The 3-day Seminar is being carried out to increase the knowledge and skills of public sector officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina in getting familiarized with the concept of PPPs. By bringing international experts into the discussion, the government representatives can benefit on how to design and implement the most appropriate PPP projects to develop infrastructure in the country. Mr. Marco Mantovanelli, the World Bank’s Country Manager for Bosnia and Herzegovina said this morning: “Bosnia and Herzegovina could attract important local and foreign investments and leverage Government’s resources to further develop infrastructure in the country by using the appropriate tools to design and implement effective PPPs Infrastructure projects”. |
