Swiss-Polish Cooperation Program launched

11 December 2009

On 11 December 2009 in the Ministry of Finance of Poland, the representatives of the Embassy of Switzerland with the Ministry of Regional Development and the representatives of the Ministry of Finance with the World Bank signed two agreements that officially open the new financial reporting and auditing project called: Institutional and regulatory capacity building for corporate sector financial reporting and auditing at the national level.

The signing marks the latest in an increasing trend among Middle Income Countries as they turn to the Bank for not only for the assurance of its resources, but also for the global knowledge that it has a reputation for providing. As lessons are learned from support to these countries, "deposits" are made in the Knowledge Bank which can then be drawn upon by other countries struggling with similar challenges in the future. As a result, these efforts are essential for the World Bank as it works to remain at the forefront of the development practices.
