Doncho Barbalov, Operations Officer, joined the Bank in 2002. For the period of 1998-2002, he was working at the economic office of the United States Agency for International Development in Bulgaria and supervising a number of projects including energy, energy efficiency, and capital markets projects. Earlier in the 1990s, he worked as a consultant on EU projects supporting the privatization process in Bulgaria.
Current Work Program: District heating, electricity sector reform in Bulgaria, energy efficiency, water sector restructuring, road rehabilitation, trade and transport facilitation.
Strengths: Experience in development work in transition economies, project development, team player.
Education: Master's degree from the Sofia Technical University, Sofia, Bulgaria.
Languages (other than English): Bulgarian (native), Russian (good).
