Sudipto Sarkar



sSudipto SARKAR, Lead Specialist, joined the Bank as a Young Professional in 1993 and worked on a number of infrastructure and environment projects in many countries in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) Region of the Bank, including Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, and FYR Macedonia. Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Sarkar worked in the US private sector for about seven years in consulting companies that provided infrastructure and environmental services to industries, regional, and local water authorities, and the US Government.
Current Work Program: Mr. Sarkar is currently based in the Bank's Zagreb office and apart from managing tasks, he coordinates Bank's infrastructure and energy activities in the region.
Strengths: Broad knowledge of infrastructure and energy issues; ability to lead policy dialog with the Government; knowledge of Bank's operations; and ability to effectively work with teams.
Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering (Indian Institute of Technology); M.S. in Environmental Engineering (Tufts University, Massachusetts); and M.B.A. (Georgetown University, Washington DC).
Languages (other than English): Hindi (fluent); Bengali (native).
