Rinat I. Iskhakov, Operations Analyst, joined the Bank in 1998 as a consultant and in 1999 as a staff member of the Infrastructure Sector Department to work on the water supply and sanitation projects and environment-related activities in Uzbekistan. He has been contributing as a team member to preparation of the NEAP for Uzbekistan, Lead Phase-Out and Clean Air Initiative, Central Asian Transboundary Biodiversity and Institutional Strengthening projects as well as design and supervision of the water supply and sanitation projects. Consequently, he has joined the Central Asia Water Team in its work on the water supply and sanitation projects in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Iskhakov had management and consulting experience working in the private sector and at an international NGO focusing on the environmental issues, water supply and sanitation in the Aral Sea zone.
Current Work Program: Water supply and sanitation, private sector involvement under management contracts into the water utilities' operations in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, AAA in municipal infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
Strengths: Experience in the public utilities, knowledge of the Bank's investment operations, operational experience in implementing Bank/IDA financed projects, building up working relations and negotiating with diverse clients and stakeholders, teamwork.
Education: Graduate degree in Business Administration, Swinburne University of Technology, Australia; M.A., Tashkent State University; Diploma (honors), Industrial Engineering, Chirchik Industrial Technical School, Uzbekistan.
Languages (other than English): Russian (native).
