Lee Travers


ltLee Travers, Sector Manager, joined the Bank in 1992 as long-term consultant and in 1994 as regular staff. Until 1998, he worked in China Country Department Urban and Environment Unit operations, leading lending operations and sector work in rural and urban water and sanitation. In 1998 he joined the Bank's Water and Sanitation Anchor unit, where he was first Principal then Lead Economist, assisting in a variety of lending operations and sector work across the Bank, as well as contributing to sector input on corporate issues. He joined the Infrastructure and Energy Department in mid-2001 as a sector manager, with initial responsibility for department economic and sector work and, thereafter, the Urban and Water Sector management. Before joining the Bank, Mr. Travers worked for the Ford Foundation, including residence in their Cairo and Beijing field offices.
Current Work Program: Urban and water portfolio, economic and sector work in energy and infrastructure across the region.
Strengths: Program and project design and implementation; economic analysis.
Education: Ph.D. University of California, Berkeley.
Languages (other than English): Chinese (good).
