Ellen HAMILTON, Urban Planner, joined the Bank in 1996 as a long-term consultant and in 1999 as regular staff. Her responsibilities during this period include: research and policy advice on housing and real estate issues; analysis of urban development using GIS; management of projects in Georgia and Azerbaijan; research and advice on urban poverty in transition countries, work on housing and urban development projects in Russia and preparation of a housing sector stragegy in Lithuania.
Current Work Program: urban poverty, housing and municipal development in transition countries, Azerbaijan Pilot Reconstruction project and Georgia Municipal Development Project II (both in supervision).
Strengths: Spatial analysis, land, real estate and housing, urban poverty.
Education: Ph.D. in Geography (Columbia University, US), Certificate in GIS (University of Southern California), B.A. (Yale University).
