Bjorn Hamso

 Bjorn Hamso, Senior Energy Economist, joined the Bank in 1999. In 1992-95, he was a long-term consultant for the Bank, working on oil and gas sector privatization in Bolivia and as an advisor on a gas export project (pipeline to Brazil). He was also involved in energy sector reviews in Lithuania and Bulgaria, technical assistance in Turkmenistan, and lending operations in Ukraine. Since 1999, Mr. Hamso has managed energy projects in Russia and is currently Program Team Leader for the Bank's energy projects in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, and Serbia. Before joining the Bank, Mr. Hamso worked for Statoil, a Norwegian energy company, as a Marketing Director in charge of power marketing in Scandinavia. During the 1980s, he was involved in Norwegian gas exports. He has also spent two years in the U.S. gas and power industry.
Current Work Program:Â Managing the Bank's energy project portfolio in the South Caucasus and maintaining an energy policy dialogue with the countries.

Education: Master's degree from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, Bergen, Norway.
