Dejan Ostojic



doDejan OSTOJIC, Senior Energy Specialist, joined the Bank in 1998. In the Bank, he has managed or participated in investment projects, adjustment operations and energy sector policy studies in Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Serbia and Montenegro and Macedonia. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked in Harza, Chicago, USA (1992-1998) as Area Manager and Senior Consultant on major power generation, transmission, and distribution projects in Bulgaria, China, El Salvador, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Malaysia, Venezuela, and USA.  From 1983 to 1992, Mr. Ostojic was a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia, Fulbright Scholar at Purdue University, USA, and consultant to power utilities in Yugoslavia, Qatar, and USA.
Current Work Program: He is the energy Program Team Leader on Ukraine and Moldova and the coordinator of the Bank portfolio in infrastructure and energy in the Regional Office in Kyiv. Currently, his program includes the policy dialog with the Governments of Ukraine and Moldova; preparation of an investment program for rehabilitation of hydropower plants in Ukraine; supervision of the Energy II project in Moldova and studies on regional energy trade in South East Europe and the Black Sea area.
Strengths: Development of sector strategies and investment programs in energy and infrastructure, integration of sector policies and regulatory regimes with requirements for public and private investments, power system development planning,  design, appraisal and implementation of investment projects.
Education: B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. Senior Member of IEEE and Member of US Committee of CIGRE. Author of more than 20 papers and one book.
Languages (other than English): Serbo-Croatian (native), Russian (fluent), French (fair) and Spanish (fair).
