Gevorg Sargsyan

Gevorg Sargsyan, Senior Infrastructure Specialist, joined the Bank in 2000. During six years of experience at the World Bank's Energy and Infrastructure Department, he has been involved in developing and supervising investment projects, carrying out analytical and research work, assisting in sector reforms in Armenia, Georgia, Russian, and Central Asia. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked as a Chief Financial Officer in private and public sectors. In 1996-1998, Mr. Sargsyan was the deputy director of the World Bank-funded Transport Project Implementation Unit.
Current Work Program: Mr. Sargsyan is currently coordinating the World Bank Infrastructure and Energy Program in Russia. His work program includes projects and other activities in energy, housing, utilities, and transport sectors. In addition, Mr. Sargsyan works on energy projects in Armenia. He is actively involved in energy and infrastructure sectors policy dialogs and research and analytical activities.
Strengths: Multi-sectorial operations and studies, public- private partnership and utility regulations, financial and analytical skills.
Education: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK - professional stage; Post Graduate Study in Infrastructure Finance at the Armenian National Academy of Science; Master's degree in applied mathematics from the Yerevan State University, Armenia.
Languages (other than English): Armenian (native), Russian (excellent).
