The Agricultural Pollution Control (APC) Forum

The objective of the APC Forum is to facilitate exchange of information and experiences on the control of pollution from agricultural sources in Black Sea / Danube Basin countries. It is part of of a knowledge dissemination program carried out in the framework of the undertaken in support of the GEF Strategic Partnership on the Danube/Black Sea Basin. The Forum follows on from, and will link together, the World Bank organized annual Black Sea/Danube APC workshops.

a) Website containing APC project documents. This web site will facilitate the dissemination of knowledge generated during the preparation and implementation of individual projects within the Basin and in similar projects elsewhere in the region. To this end, project related working/technical papers will be made available on this site. Available documents have been classified by "APC Themes" and by "APC Projects". This site also includes a page devoted to links to other relevant web sites, notably those of the Baltic Agricultural Run-off Action Program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the University of Maryland Chesapeake Bay Nutrient Management Program. b) Discussion Forum. The e-mail based forum supports day – to – day exchange of information and experiences by APC practitioners, they include but are not limited to: project preparation and implementation units, researchers, local extension workers, WB task managers and international APC experts. Participants of the discussion forum may send a message to Pollution-Control@Lists.Worldbank.Org either using their own e-mail account or by accessing the page Discussion Forum. Messages may include questions for the group, answers or provide general information from a project. The discussion forum will also be used as a medium for follow-up discussions on APC lectures (below). A list discussion forum participants can be found in the Participants section of this site. To become a member, please contact Mr. Gary Baker at gbaker1@worldbank.org.

The page Discussion Forum will contain an archive of messages sent by all members to date. Please note that to access that page you do not need to have a password if your name is listed in the participants' list.

c) APC Distance Learning Course. A set of introductory lectures on the principles of APC using the example of the Baltic Sea Basin will be offered by an international expert in the form of video conferences. The first lecture will take place on April 22, 2003. The Schedule for the lectures will be updated as arrangements are completed. Lecture notes and video recordings will be posted on this site.
