The World Bank, in collaboration with the Montenegrin Ministry of Health, organized a 2-day workshop in Podgorica, Montenegro on September 17-18, 2007 to work on and discuss issues related to private sector participation in the health sector in Montenegro. The main objective of the workshop was to provide an overview of the topic of public-private collaboration (PPC) and public-private partnerships (PPP) in the health sector, the key types encountered in practice, the associated benefits and risks, and good practices for ensuring success.
The workshop was structured around 4 main topics: (i) General introduction to the concept of PPP, PPP in the field (ii) Clinical services, (iii) Non-clinical services and (iv) Management services. Case studies included successful projects from Austria, Germany, United Kingdom, Romania, Denmark, Albania and Bosnia Herzegovina.
