The Government of Hungary and the World Bank
Budapest, March 23-26, 2004
The World Bank and the Government of Hungary were pleased to launch the Third Knowledge Economy Forum on March 23-26, 2004. The title of the Forum was: Improving Competitiveness Through a Knowledge-based Economy. The Forum built on the past years fora held in Paris in 2002 and in Helsinki in 2003. This year, the Knowledge Economy Forum concentrated on four major themes:
1) From Research to Industry and MarketsParticipants included high level government officials, as well as representatives of the civil society and the private sector from 22 countries from Europe and Central Asia. The Forum consisted of key note speeches, case study presentations, thematic group discussions and site visits. .
2) Financing of Innovation
3) Tertiary Education for the Knowledge Economy
4) Innovation in Traditional Sectors and Local Development.
