Giuseppe Zampaglione is an economist (University of Rome, London School of Economics, Harvard Business School). From 1982 to 1995 he has worked on issues of EU integration, R&D, industrial policies, national innovation system and higher education for the following institutions/companies: EU DGII Economic Affairs, International Atomic Energy Agency - Vienna, Italian Energy and Innovation Agency (ENEA), IRI SpA (Istituto Ricostruzione Industriale), Fondazione San Paolo per la Scienza e la Tecnologia, Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. From 1995 he is with the World Bank, as External affairs counselor for southern Europe, then Sr. Cofinancing Officer and, from 2000 to 2002, as Resident Representative in Kosovo. Currently, he is with the Vice Presidency for Europe and Central Asia in charge of the 2004 World Bank Knowledge Economy Forum. He is the author of more than 30 published papers on innovation, economic development, reform of higher education, and post-conflict reconstruction. . |
