The World Bank's Strategy

cube

Since the onset of transition, the World Bank has helped policy makers in Eastern Europe and Central Asia to navigate the relatively uncharted waters of their economic transformation from command to market economies.  This support has included

  • Macroeconomic monitoring ensures an integrated approach of the various economic policies recommendations and the compilation of lessons learned from our interventions throughout the region and around the world;
  • Country and regional studies to provide analysis, advice and support countries in creating policies that promote good fiscal performance, macroeconomic stability, and institutional development; and
  • Policy-based lending in which we use the knowledge generated in our research to endorse and support governments in implementing effective strategies to achieve growth and poverty reduction.
