CDD Small Grants Program

The ECA region initiated a Small Grants program, with funds from the Norwegian Trust Fund for Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Development, to support the scaling up of CDD activities in countries in the region. Only activities in IDA countries were eligible, and the proposals had to fulfill some basic criteria including:-

• two categories of activities were elegible for funding- analyis - assessments of local level institutions and design - preparation of specific activities to scale up CDD in ECA;
• activities should be innovative;
• activities should embody transparency at the community level; and
• the activities should provide clear added value and should be linked to the World Bank's program in each country.

The program funded several innovative activities in Albania, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.
