Ambassador Ljubica Z. Acevska is currently a Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
At the Wilson Center, she is writing a book on her experiences as the first Ambassador of Macedonia to the United States. She is also writing an article on economic development and is doing speaking engagements.
Until September 2000, Ms. Acevska was the first Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to the United States of America. She represented Macedonia for nine years. One of her major accomplishments included the establishment of full diplomatic relations between the United States and the Republic of Macedonia.
Prior to her work with the Republic of Macedonia, Ambassador Acevska worked in the field of international development as a partner in an international trading and consulting company.
Ambassador Acevska is a graduate of the Ohio State University. She has completed several seminars including "Leadership for the 21st Century Chaos, Conflict and Courage" at Harvard University. She is a recipient of the 1996 Alumni Medalist Award from the Ohio State Alumni Association for international distinction in service to humanity. The Ambassador has also received the first Foreign Ambassador's Award from the Central and East European Law Initiative of the American Bar Association.
Ambassador Acevska has published several articles on the Balkans. She is a frequent speaker, and has appeared on many television programs including CNN and the Jim Lehrer News Hour. Among the boards she serves on, include: the Provost External Advisory Board on Education at the Ohio States University; the Board of Governors of the Pacem In Terris Institute at La Roche College; and the Advisory Council of the Central and East European Law Initiative of the American Bar Association.
