Learning from Each Other

Brief overview of the ongoing Trade and Transport Facilitation in Southeast Europe (TTFSE) Program, covering eight countries in Southeast Europe was prepared by Michel Audige, Lead Transport Specialist, and Gerald Ollivier, Transport Specialist. Presentation below draws lessons on the preparation process and the impact after a year of implementation.   • What sector and which stakeholders are to be targeted/included and what kind of expertise is needed
  • What are the most critical issues in facilitating trade and transport
  • How do we set targets and what is the most efficient or practical way to measure the improvement 
  • What expertise(s) of the Bank staff is most highly valued in preparing a trade and transport facilitation project 
  • What kind of project scale is appropriate (time and money wise), what resource input and lead time are required to bring a project to Board
  • How did we start the project preparation/what are the tools currently available
  • How do we draw the private sector in the project and what is their major contribution and merits
  • What are the benefits and cost of preparing a regional program and opportunities for cooperation across regions
  • What will be the relation/collaboration with regional trade promotion organizations
  • How to connect the project with the Millennium Development Goals
