Transport in Europe and Central Asia

It is essential for all countries in Central, Eastern, and Southeast Europe and Central Asia to ensure that transport contributes fully to economic growth and poverty reduction. Although the state of transport networks in most countries is poor, governments, with the support from the World Bank, strive to create conditions that would facilitate sustainability of improvements in the sector, integrate national transport systems into regional networks, and develop environmentally friendly systems.
