Water and Wastewater Sector Financing Workshop
May 31 - June 1, 2004 Sofia, Bulgaria

A workshop on the financing of the water and wastewater sectors took place on May 31 and June 1, 2004.  The workshop is financed by the USAID and is a forum to discuss the current investment and financial needs of the Bulgarian water and wastewater sectors.

The workshop was attended by central and local government authorities, the European Union, International Financial Institutions, and the private sector.  The information and knowledge shared during the meeting would be useful in developing policies for the development of the water and wastewater sectors.   In particular, one of the workshop's main objectives was to get the views of the private sector as to how it can contribute towards the development of the water and wastewater sectors in Bulgaria since public resources will not be adequate to address the huge needs.
