Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Development

The World Bank helps developing countries fight poverty and establish stable, sustainable, and equitable economic growth. Consistent with these objectives, the primary focus of this sector is to support rural, environmental, and social development projects in Europe and Central Asia which contribute to poverty reduction; improved environmental and natural resources management; plus the strengthening of local capacity to govern and manage development.
