GDLN supports European Commission TA programs

The increased cooperation between the EC and GDLN resulted in the delivery of two EC-led GDLN events on December 12 and 15, 2005. 

The TAIEX EC Unit relied on GDLN partners in Croatia, Lithuania, Italy and the Netherlands to host a two session program on the EC Agri-Team Assessment Mission in the Veterinary Sector in Croatia.   Separately, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture of Croatia, the EC Delegation in Zagreb, and EU experts across Europe gathered together through GDLN to discuss technical assistance strategy in the Agriculture-Veterinary sector in Croatia. 

TAIEX is the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the Institution Building Unit of the DG - Enlargement of the European Commission.  TAIEX provides centrally managed short-term technical assistance in the field of approximation, application and enforcement of legislation, to new Member States, candidates for accession to the EU and to the countries of the Western Balkans. 

The TAIEX team was pleased with the  two GDLN events and requested GDLN support for the preparation and delivery of three more assessment/debriefing programs in the month of January 2006.
