On March 11, 2005 the World Bank Country Office in Georgia helt its first Development Marketplace competition under a "Better Neighborhoods-Better Homes" theme.
The response to the Competition launched in October 2004 was 221 proposals prepared by a wide variety of civil society organizations, academia and private sector entities from across the entire country. A Selection Committee comprised of representatives of donor and international organizations, funds and foundations, government agencies chose 38 best proposals for the final stage of Marketplace that took place on March 11. This event was preceded by a Knowledge Forum “Cross-Sector Partnerships for Community Benefits” and allowed the finalists and other participants to share ideas on a proposed topic and provided fresh networking opportunities.
