Kyrgyz Republic: Avian Influenza Control & Human Pandemic Preparedness & Response Project

WASHINGTON, February 9, 2006- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

IDA GRANT AMOUNT:  US$ 4 million

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The overall objective of the Project is to minimize the threat in the Kyrgyz Republic posed to humans and to the poultry industry by Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) infection and to prepare for, control, and respond to influenza pandemic.
