A delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic will participate in the Conference on Youth in Eastern Europe and Central Asia “From Policy to Action”.

The Conference will bring together delegations from all countries of the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region as well as from Kosovo, inter-governmental organizations and international and local youth umbrella organizations in the region. It will provide a forum for meaningful dialogue, dissemination and exchange of experience on successful youth development programs and investments in Europe and Central Asia that aim at empowering young people through increased access to socio-economic opportunities and participation in decision-making. Furthermore, the conference will provide young people with a platform for exchange of ideas on successful youth initiatives developed by young leaders.
The conference would also serve as an important regional forum to discuss the operational implications of the recent World Development Report (WDR) of the World Bank on "Development and the Next Generation", and will focus in particular on two primary youth policy domains articulated in the WDR:
(i) transition to work;
(ii) transition to citizenship, which currently seem to be especially problematic for the young people of the ECA Region.
The Kyrgyz delegation is comprised of:
Ms. Aigul Ryskulova, Chair of the State Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic on Migration and Employment;
Mr. Almazbek Kadyrkulov, State Secretary of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Youth Issues and Child Protection;
Mr. Bekjan Supanaliev, ARIS;
Ms. Gulzat Mamatova, National Youth Library.
This event – jointly sponsored by the Italian Development Cooperation and the World Bank – will take place in Rome, Italy, on May 21-26, 2007.
