Kyrgyz Republic: Energy Emergency Assistance Project

WASHINGTON, November 19, 2009 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following project:

 

IDA Credit: US$2 million equivalent

Terms: Maturity = 40 years; Grace Period = 10 years

IDA Grant: US$2 million equivalent

Project ID: P119227     

 

Project Description: Additional financing for the Energy Emergency Assistance Project aims to increase the volume and reliability of the national energy supply, especially thermal power in the winter season, thereby supporting implementation of the Energy Emergency Mitigation Action Plan (EEMAP).The additional financing will help finance costs associated with the following: (i) a scale-up of project activities for the provision of equipment, materials, and spare parts to increase thermal power generation and heat output at the Bishkek combined heat and power plant for the 2009-10 winter; and (ii) corresponding scale-up of the support for project management.
