Investment Climate Assessment - (May 2005)

The World Bank undertook an investment climate assessment in Lithuania in 2004 as part of its efforts to support member countries through in-depth analysis of major microeconomic constraints in their business environments. Lithuania has made serious efforts in recent years to improve its investment climate.

Trade and Transport Facilitation Audit of the Baltic States - (Nov. 2004)

On May 1, 2004 Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined the European Union. This had a significant impact on day-to-day trade practices with other EU countries and with non-EU countries, notably that of Russia. In relation to the EU, the major changes were the removal of national customs borders and trading without customs clearances.

Truck Drivers and Casual Sex - An Inquiry Into the Potential Spread Of HIV/AIDS In the Baltic Region - (Jun. 2004)

While the threat of an HIV/AIDS epidemic cannot be taken lightly in any country of the Europe and Central Asia region, four countries - Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia - stand out as being particularly vulnerable. Open borders, and rapid transit threatens to broaden the sweep of the HIV epidemic, as drug injectors and sex workers come into contact with other population groups.
