Targeting domestic violence in Lithuania
As public relations officer of a state agency, she was a well-known face. What was not known, until recently, was that she had been silently enduring domestic violence. She had been afraid to reveal her plight for fear of negative reactions from the public as well as her own two sons. Experts at the Shelter for Children and Mothers in Vilnius, supported with World Bank assistance, had however been in covert contact with her for over a year.
