The World Bank's Vice President Visits Russia

MOSCOW, September 20, 2007 – Mr. Shigeo Katsu, World Bank Europe and Central Asia Regional Vice President, arrives to Russia on a three-day official visit to participate in the VI International Investment Forum “Kuban-2007” in Sochi.

During the Plenary Session of the Forum Mr. Katsu will address the Forum on the international experience in, and lessons learned on, infrastructure development by developed and economies in transition countries.
 
Mr. Katsu will take part in the Meeting of the FIAC's Global CEOs with President Putin.

While in Moscow Mr. Katsu and  Mr. Storchak, Deputy Minister of Finance, will exchange their views on  the new models for cooperation, which are sighted by the new World Bank’s Strategy for the Middle Income Countries, and are envisaged in the Country Partnership Strategy for the Russian Federation including Bank's assistance to Russia as an emerging Donor.

In the course the visit to Sochi, Mr. Katsu and Mr. Klaus Rohland, World Bank Country Director and Resident Representative for Russia, are scheduled to meet with Mrs. Valentina I. Matvienko, Governor of the City of St. Petersburg, and Mr. Kozak, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy in the Southern Federal District. During these meetings Mr. Shigeo Katsu, will discuss issues related to the World Bank program in the Southern Federal District and to the implementation of the World Bank supported projects in St. Petersburg, challenges and prospects for further cooperation.

On Saturday, September 22, 2007, Mr. Shigeo Katsu will leave Moscow for the final leg of his trip to Europe.
