The IXth International Academic Conference on "Economic Modernization and Globalization" was held on April 1-3, 2008 in Moscow. The conference was organized by the State University - Higher School of Economics, with participation of the World Bank and the IMF. The Conference Organizing Committee was chaired by Professor Evgeny Yasin, HSE Academic Supervisor.
High-level Russian Government officials, including Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin , Minister of Economic Development and Trade Elvira Nabiullina and Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Ulyukaev, as well as representatives of the Presidential Administration took part in the plenary session on April 1. The plenary session also hosted senior experts of the World Bank, the IMF, the OECD, and heads of some of the largest Russian and international companies.
At the conference the World Bank Group was presented by Pradeep Mitra, Chief Economist of the ECA Region, Luca Barbone, Sector Director, Poverty reduction and economic management, ECA region, Klaus Rohland, Russia Country Director and Zeljko Bogetic, Lead economist for Russia.
