The World Bank is active in Tajikistan for over ten years and its mission in the country remains unchanged. We strive to help the country achieve sustainable development and improve the lives of average Tajikistan citizens.
Since 1996, the World Bank has approved twenty eight lending and grant-funded projects (plus four supplemental credits) for a total commitment of about USD 425 million. Grants account for more than USD 86 million of this amount. USD 334 million of the total amount committed has already been disbursed. In addition, over USD 48 million has been made available to Tajikistan for economic management, rehabilitation of infrastructure and development of human capital on a grant basis through Trust Funds administered by the World Bank.
To date, the Bank has supported projects and carried out non-lending activities aimed at structural reform, agriculture and rural development, health, education, social security, energy, water resources, infrastructure rehabilitation, disaster management and other.
