World Bank Turkey Country Office has been implementing Small Grants Program (SmGP) within the past 6 years with the funds received from Development Grant Facility (DGF) budget, administered from Washington DC.

World Bank Turkey Country Office will run the 7th round of grants in 2007. This year SmGP will be distributing grants up to US$ 5,000 for projects submitted by Non Governmental Organizations active in social matters specifically on the topic of Youth.

The SmGP complements and facilitates the social development agenda of the World Bank through its focus on civic engagement.  Civic engagement is defined as: citizens, either individually or as organized groups, interacting with the public sector to strengthen mechanisms for inclusion, accountability, and participation in order to enhance and influence development outcomes.

Grants will be given to small-scale activities in support of youth issues, implemented by grass-root level NGOs. This year’s theme is: “Civic Engagement for the Empowerment Youth”. It is intended to support the empowerment of youth groups and young people to have greater ownership of development processes, making these processes more inclusive and equitable.

Within this framework, we are happy to share with you the guidelines for submitting project proposals for this year’s Small Grants Program attached and we invite your organization to submit proposal(s) and share the information with other NGOs who would be interested in submitting proposals.

Attached you will also find grant application form that should be filled in and sent accompanied by the required documents to the below mentioned address through postal mail. Other methods of application (email, fax) will not be accepted. The deadline for application is January 31, 2007.
