Fifth “Youth, Employment and Entrepreneurship” one-day seminar in cooperation with AEGEE-Izmir and Ege University on December 07, 2006 was organized by Youth Voices Group of Turkey in İzmir. Please click here to see the agenda of the Seminar.
One of major aims of this seminar was to create a platform for young people to learn how to get assistance and services from various employment agencies in Turkey in terms of finding jobs and to learn what kind of entrepreneurship opportunities are offered by programmes and projects implemented by these agencies in Turkey.
Around 60 participants composed of mainly students from EgeUniversity had chance to get information on services of Turkey Employment Agency (İŞ-KUR), Small and Medium Sized Industry Development Organization (KOSGEB) and to learn about youth employment and entrepreneurship in separate panel sessions.
After the welcoming speech of Adnan Fatin Kobazoğlu, Youth Voices Group of Turkey, Duygu Karaoğlu made a brief presentation on the activities of Youth Voices Group in Turkey.
Ayla Bozkurt from Turkey Employment Agency (İŞ-KUR) Provincial Directorate of Izmir took part as a speaker in a morning panel session which was moderated by Youth Voices member, Adnan Fatin Kobazoğlu and provided information on “services and activities of İŞ-KUR towards youth employment” .
“What kind of skills and experiences are required for being a entrepreneur?, What type of opportunities are available for young entrepreneurs through KOSGEB projects? How can a young person benefit from Technology Development Centers (TEK-MER)?” were some of the questions answered by Levent Arslan from KOSGEB-Izmir TEK-MER in the afternoon session chaired by Youth Voices member, Ferhat Gök. Moreover, a young entrepreneur who established his own business after participating in KOSGEB ‘Young Entrepreneur Development Programme’ shared his entrepreneurship experiences with the participants during this session.
In the last session, participants were given chance to provide feedbacks on the seminar and to make recommendations for future seminars taking place in different cities.
