World Bank Calls for Immediate Elimination of Restrictions on Grain Export in Ukraine

Kyiv, May 7, 2008 - The World Bank today urged Ukraine to proceed with immediate implementation of its announced decision to eliminate restrictions on grain exports. 

“The World Bank welcomed Ukraine’s announcement on April 23 that it was lifting all restrictions on grain exports with immediate effect” - said Paul Bermingham, World Bank Country Director for Ukraine in a statement today. - “We now understand that the new regime rather involves a system of increased quotas and licences rather than full elimination.” Read more.
