Expected Outcomes

The following concrete outputs are expected from the CReCER Conference, including:

• Establishing a Working Group aimed at promoting and coordinating accounting and audit reform in participating LCR countries. This Working Group will be responsible for developing a concrete action plan based on the agreements reached at the CReCER conference; and
• Publication of all discussion and research papers presented at the conference in a book format and web-streaming of conference material, to ensure the dissemination of the lessons learned from the conference to a very wide audience throughout LCR. Such broad dissemination will also help build on the momentum created by the conference in support of the objectives set out above.

These outputs will to lead to several important outcomes, including:

• Identifying good practices and innovative approaches in strengthening accounting and auditing practices in LCR and building the capacity of accountants, regulators, administrators so that such practices are in line with the respective international standards;
• Mobilizing and harmonizing donor support, in an effort to maximize the effectiveness of donorsupported capacity development efforts;
• Creating a platform for regional and bilateral cooperation on a wide range of accounting and
  auditing issues;
• Maximizing opportunities resulting from international convergence and integrated efforts through greater harmonization of regulations and practices within the region; and
• Facilitating the implementation of accounting and auditing reforms.
