1.  World Bank Announces Total Cancellation of Haiti’s Debt
On May 28, the World Bank announced that the remaining US$36 million of debt owed by Haiti to the International Development Association (IDA), the Bank’s fund for the poorest countries, has been cancelled. Haiti now has no further amounts payable to the World Bank. + More 

2. New OECS Regional Partnership Strategy for Inclusive and Sustained Growth
The strategy for the next four years projects financial assistance of up to US$193 million, in addition to technical and advisory services. It seeks to support economic stability, competitiveness, and inclusive and sustained growth. Additionally, the Board of Directors approved two operations for a total of US$20 million for St. Lucia and Grenada aimed at supporting policy reforms. + More

The World Bank will begin to implement the first phase of its new policy on Access to Information on July 1, one of several major reforms the Bank has undertaken to increase its effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability. + More

Demand for World Bank disaster risk management services in the region has almost doubled to 17 programs in last few years. + More

The Haiti Reconstruction Fund (HRF) gathered momentum last May after Brazil contributed US$55 million to the multilateral mechanism set up to help the Caribbean nation rebuild following its devastating January 12 earthquake. + More

As the economic recovery gathers pace, Latin American and Caribbean countries face major challenges to expand social security, a new World Bank report says. + More

11. Norway and Australia Join the Haiti Reconstruction Fund
Honoring their pledges announced during the New York international conference held on March 31 2010, the governments of Australia and Norway signed contributions to the Haiti Reconstruction Fund (HRF) for 10 million Australian Dollars (US$8.64 million) and 200 million NOK (US$31.2 million), respectively, and the United States announced its initial contribution of US$30 million. + More
