| The World Bank is proud to present the fourth volume in its Brazil Water Series. This report highlights some of the main challenges of the water sector in light of past experience and lessons learned in the sector's recent history in the country.
The document presents reflections on what has been accomplished and on possible paths to be followed, providing suggestions and inputs to the ongoing debates on the water sector in the country, as well as contributing to refining the partnership of the World Bank and Brazil in these areas.
The three previous volumes were published in Portuguese in April, 2003, and addressed, respectively, water resources management strategies for Brazil, water rights, and the issue of water supply, sanitation and water resources in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. There was considerable demand for the first three volumes, demonstrating the usefulness of their contents for the various actors in the water sector in Brazil.
