In 2003, the World Bank launched a world-wide effort to enhance dissemination of information and promote dialogue, discussion and feedback. The goal of the Public Information Center is to provide access to the latest development information in support of the World Bank's policy of disclosure . Â
Â
The PIC role in Brazil is to help the public access print or online information about the World Bank's operations and studies in collaboration with the Government of Brazil, as well as bibliographic material edited by the World Bank in Portuguese and English.
The Public Information Center in Brazil  provides advise through telephone, e-mail Informacao@worldbank.org and fax.

To increase access, we have partnered with libraries to make additional development information available in their centers.
The World Bank's Depository Library Program is a key element in its publication strategy. As the world's largest development institution, the World Bank undertakes large projects of research, analysis, and data gathering. The dissemination of that research is a necessary part of the Bank's objectives, because knowledge and information, to have value, must be shared.
