Secondary Education in the Caribbean

Many Caribbean countries are currently expanding access to secondary education. This will contribute to a more educated and productive populace and lower poverty. In the expansion, the governments face several major challenges within diverse areas, such as financing, quality, teacher motivation and remuneration, student support, information management systems, school construction, etc. To overcome these challenges, the World Bank assists the governments of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and Jamaica through two projects: OECS Education Development Project and Jamaica Reform of Secondary Education project. As part of the project preparations, the Japan Policy and Human Resources Development Fund financed through the World Bank a set of studies in order to support the design of strategic and high-impact projects. These studies are shared below in order for the documents and experience to benefit other countries facing similar challenges.
