Energy is a key ingredient for economic development and poverty alleviation. In the LAC region, the World Bank's past financing of energy projects has clearly improved people's living conditions by enhancing service quality, extending coverage, and instituting structural and management reforms to improve efficiency and mobilize the funds needed to meet the region's growing demand for energy.
