The Finance Group is working in close coordination with governments in the Region on the transition of several capitalization schemes from accumulation to the pay-out phase and on questions posed by the competitive structure of the sector. This includes work on ‘first generation’ issues such as the design and implementation of appropriate regulations for defined contribution pensions systems, as well as on ‘second generation’ issues such as risk-based supervision of pension funds, the development of annuities markets and of relevant capital markets instruments, and the enhancement of competition between providers.
