The Gender and Economics Initiative was initiated by the Gender and Development Group in the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network. This site provides economic policy makers working in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region with the information they need to decide whether analysis of gender issues should be a high priority in particular areas of policy and programs being developed in the Region. The site includes background studies and summaries of key findings, operational experience and tools in the following policy areas: Trade and Competitiveness; Public Expenditure; Public Sector Downsizing; Labor Markets; Pension Reform; Safety Nets and Transfers; and Child Labor.
