Anna Fruttero is an Italian national. Originally from Fossano, in the north-west of Italy, she spent her last two year of high school at theUnited World College of the Adriatic. After that she moved to Milan where she got her BA in Economics and worked  for a couple of years at the research institute IGIER. She then made a big jump and landed in the Big Apple. During her years in New York she studied economics at New York University, met great friends, got married and received her PhD in Economics in 2005. Her dissertation has focused on NGO location decisions in rural Bangladesh and on foreign aid allocation to NGOs. Her current work at the World Bank focuses on Monitoring and Evaluation of social programs.
